The mission of the Burnham Park Yacht Club Sailing Program is to provide a safe, fun and empowering learning environment designed to develop the skills required for sailing; to promote personal growth and independence within the sport, to achieve proficient levels in boat handling and maintenance, and to develop decision making skills, while encouraging sportsmanship, leadership and team work.

Our program is designed for students between the ages of 8 and 18 to introduce the sport and art of sailing. During the program, beginner students will learn basic sailing techniques from US Sailing Certified Instructors. More advanced students will learn about sailboat racing, and have the opportunity to participate in local regattas. Our ultimate goal is that each student will become active participants in the sport, and learn valuable lessons in self-confidence, teamwork, and respect for nature and fellow man.

Safety is our main concern and is a priority. All students are required to wear life jackets while they are on the dock and sailing. No exceptions are tolerated.
